A trio of final year students from construction technology programme of Keningau Vocational College presented their final year project at International Culture, Art and Literature Congress on 2nd April 2022, Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. They decided to conduct a research on local contractors’ understanding and practice of a standard evaluation tool used to inspect the quality of a construction project. Their recorded video can be accessed on the following YouTube link:

The three students were Challe Jirih, Helviana Venster and Fevsafikah Larim. They aimed to study how well local contractors in the interior region of Sabah understood the function of Qlassic system, a system developed to guide inspection on quality of construction work based on a set of specific criteria, and practiced this system for any project development. It was believed that some contractors might not have sufficient understanding of the system and few might choose not to adopt the system in their work procedure. This could affect the quality of their construction project since the system was developed to ensure that every aspect of a construction project meets the minimum standard of a structure or a building before the construction is commissioned. Mr. Johari @ Jaibet Bin Sabin, the college director, congratulated the team for the research that they were doing which could improve the construction industry. He believed such research can be further expanded in order to gather data that are more convincing.
